82% of Small-Business Leaders Say Trade Benefits U.S. Economy

The nationwide survey, which tracks the impact of international trade among U.S. small businesses, also reveals their views on tariffs.

Participation in global trade is increasingly seen by U.S. small-business leaders as a way to improve the overall economy and create American jobs, according to the results of the fourth FedEx Trade Index.

The nationwide survey finds 82 percent of U.S. small-business leaders see increasing U.S. trade as beneficial to the overall economy, up from 76 percent earlier this year. It also found that 2 out of 3 small-business leaders worry that tariffs on imports from China will mean higher prices on consumer items, and 3 out of 5 say the impact on business will be negative.
