Karen Reddington: Global E-commerce Barriers

Why going global has never been easier — or more frustrating.

It’s a conundrum. On one hand, e-commerce has leveled the international playing field for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). At the same time, those companies often must steer through a bewildering web of restrictions when they try to move into overseas markets. Karen Reddington, President of the Asia-Pacific Division (APAC), FedEx Express, covered some of those constraints in a recent article in the China Post.

As she notes in the article, the cost of keeping up with those requirements has the potential to choke off the growth of e­commerce — and even put some SMEs’ futures at risk.
